Capt. Brandon "Minnesota" Wiita has had fishing in his blood, from the first time his grandpa took him out walleye fishing in Duluth, MN when he was 5yo, all the way to the present, out-fishing some of the greatest charters on the west coast of Vancouver Island (Ucluelet). He is also a trained chef and takes the utmost care of every fish that is harvested, practicing the Japanese technique of Ikejime as well as preparing fresh sea food (depending on package) ensuring every fish is the highest quality when it's time to sit down with your family at the dinner table. From fresh water, open or ice, on the Mississippi river and Lake Superior, to the mighty Pacific ocean, there is no stopping him from getting his line wet.

Nothing stops us from enjoying the Pacific
It's not always about fishing, we get to experience and enjoy some of the most raw wilderness nature has to offer and it sure is beautiful.
I target halibut similar to how I targeted catfish in the Mississippi River and often times it results in double headers and controlled chaos. What a blast!!!
Please reach us at info@minnesotacharters.ca if need anything!
Depends on the package but anything that will be targeting fish/prawn and or crab, you will need a fishing lic before coming aboard.
Depends on what species of fish we are targeting and what you want to harvest. Halibut and Chinook are mandatory to write on a hard copy so it is a must if you plan on keeping either species.
March-April: Best winter Chinook (King) action and spot prawn peak window for big females
June 15-August 15: Best halibut and salmon combination
May -July 20, August 15-Sept 10: Catching Chinook (King) salmon in close to shore or protected water
August – September: Larger Chinook (Kings) returning to the rivers
Be prepared. the captain is always keeping an eye on the weather so if you need help deciding, give him a shout but it is best to have more clothes than you think. It is usually always cooler and more damp in Ucluelet, due to those cool ocean winds. Worst comes to worst, we put your extra clothing in the berth.
There are a couple of places in town that can process your catch into meal sized portions, vacuum pack and flash freeze. Fishful Thinking & Far West are the 2 places or for an added cost you can let Minnesota Charters handle it for you, however we can't break the fish down into meal sized portions due to the laws.
